What does Yabbaloumba mean?

Yabbaloumba is a combination name of the two creeks, Little Yabba and Booloumba that meet on the property and flow on to the Mary River.

What areas of the property are accessible to guests?

Guests are permitted to explore all areas of the property other than the two private residences and the supporting sheds. Please remember that Yabbaloumba Retreat is a working property and gates must be left how they are found.

The livestock poses no immediate threats unless provoked. The dam is fully stocked with Australian Bass and you are welcome to ‘catch’ your dinner or just enjoy watching the geese and water fowl.

Walking tracks have been carefully cut throughout the property and your Hosts will happily direct you on request.

Can the animals be fed?

Feeding the livestock or the native animals in not encouraged.

Are domestic pets allowed?

Due to the closeness of the livestock, native wildlife and National Parks, pets are not permitted.

Are children catered for?

Yabbaloumba Retreat has been specifically designed for couple stays.

Is smoking permitted inside the cottages?

Yabbaloumba Retreat is a smoke free environment and guests are not permitted to smoke inside the cottages. Substantial cleaning costs will be incurred if this request is not respected.

Smoking is permitted on the grounds of the property although responsible disposal of bi-products (butts and packets, etc) is expected.

How often is the cottage serviced?

Yabbaloumba Retreat cottages are fully serviced after each stay. On request, minimal servicing is provided. For stays longer than 3 nights, a full service is provided.

When is a reservation confirmed?

A booking is confirmed on receipt of guarantee. An email will be forwarded confirming details of the booking. Transfers and cancellation of bookings may incur a fee.

Is there mobile phone reception?

Next G is accessible in some areas around the property but it cannot be guaranteed.

Is there TV reception?

Local channels ABC, SBS, Ten, Seven and Win can be viewed at most times, although the signal cannot be guaranteed. All network digital channels operate on the same signal and may at times drop out.

Where can you get a meal?

The town of Kenilworth is only seven kilometres north of the property and there are several eateries on offer. McGinns of Kenilworth, the Kenilworth Hotel and the Bellbird Cafe have good reputations.

Alternately, you may choose to indulge in a home-cooked Meal Hamper on your deck while you watch the sun set over the Obi Valley. With 24hr notice, provisions for your Meal Hamper can be delivered to your door.

McGinns of Kenilworth have a seasonal table d’hote menu available to Yabbaloumba Retreat guests. Orders can be placed by 4pm same day.

The new Conondale Range Great Walk showcases the rugged natural beauty of the landscape and along with the many walking tracks, horse and mountain bike trails, provide options for all levels of fitness. Is the furniture for sale?

Everything is for sale at a cost although we prefer to on sell new items and are happy to organize a copy of the prints displayed in the cottages, a monogrammed bath robe, a cow skin, hall table or even the hand crafted timber candle holder or the candles themselves.
